Welcome to Paw Paws Country Pet Resort

At Paw Paws Country Pet Resort, your pet's safety and well-being are our highest priorities. From the moment your dog or cat arrives at our Bushnell sanctuary, every aspect of their stay is designed around comfort, health, and security. We know that true peace of mind comes from knowing your cherished family member is in a safe, loving, and expert environment.

Resort Facilities & Security

Safety begins with thoughtful design. Our facility features carefully planned infrastructure to deliver a secure, worry-free retreat for your pet.

  • Advanced Air Circulation: High-efficiency air exchange systems ensure a continuous flow of fresh air, keeping indoor spaces healthy and comfortable.

  • Continuous Surveillance: Security cameras monitor key resort spaces around the clock.

  • Fire Safety & Alarm Systems: Equipped with quick-response fire protection systems and alarms.

Play Yards

Our spacious play yard is the heart of the Paw Paws experience—where guests socialize, burn off energy, and enjoy the outdoors in a secure setting.

  • Structured Play Groups: Playgroups are carefully curated by size, age, and temperament.

  • Prepared Staffing: Our trained yard handlers carry safety tools, leashes, and audible redirection equipment at all times for immediate group control.

Accommodations & Suite Life

We treat every guest like family. Our climate-controlled suites offer the perfect balance of cozy comfort and pristine hygiene.

  • Sanitizing Standards: Suites, floors, and bowls are thoroughly disinfected daily and deep-cleaned between guests using hospital-grade products.

  • Safe Belongings Policy: To protect your pet from choking hazards or ingestion risks, we do not allow fluff/stuffing toys in suites.  Safe alternative toys are provided.

  • Elevated Bedding: Every suite includes a raised cot to keep your pet off the floor for superior comfort and support.

  • Personalized Climate Control: Air-conditioned suites maintain an ideal ambient temperature year-round.

Nutrition & Medication Protocols

  • Health management requires strict structure. We follow rigorous operational steps for feeding and medication delivery.

  • Medication Management: Trained leadership staff oversee and log all non-injectable medications through a strict double-check verification process.

  • Rest Periods Before & After Feeding: To protect against bloat and ensure healthy digestion, dogs enter their suites 30 minutes before meals and are required to rest quietly for 60 minutes afterward.

  • Monitoring & Special Diets: Meal consumption is tracked for all guests, and feline bathroom habits are closely monitored. We maintain dedicated refrigeration, freezer, and microwave facilities for custom diets.

Health Requirements & Immunizations

To preserve the health of our community, all guests must meet updated vaccination standards prior to check-in.

  • Mandatory Canine Vaccines: Rabies, Distemper (DAPP), and Bordetella.

  • Mandatory Feline Vaccines: Rabies and FVRCP.

  • Recommended Vaccines: We strongly advise the Canine Influenza series to offer complete protection against regional respiratory outbreaks.

Temperament Assessments & Staff Training

Every new guest completes a simple temperament assessment upon arrival. Our team evaluates size, energy level, age, and behavior to pair your pet with the right companions.

Proactive Safety Training

Our team undergoes continuous education on canine body language, pack dynamics, and health monitoring:

  • Routine Monitoring: Hourly walk-throughs ensure every guest is checked consistently throughout the day and night.

  • Behavior Management: Staff are certified in gentle redirection techniques, time-out protocols, and safe separation methods

  • Emergency Readiness: Team members are trained in pet CPR, heat exhaustion recognition, and immediate first aid.

Illness Screening & CIRDC Protocols

We maintain an active line of defense against Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC) and other contagious illnesses.

  • Arrival Screening: Every guest undergoes a physical assessment at check-in (checking for eye/nasal discharge or coughing). Any pet displaying symptoms is politely turned away or moved immediately to an isolated care room until pickup.

  • Proactive Response: If a pet develops symptoms during their stay, owners are contacted right away for pickup arrangements while deep-sanitization protocols are executed across the facility.

  • Veterinary Partners: Paw Paws maintains established partnerships with local Bushnell veterinary practices for rapid emergency response during business hours.

Specialized Care for Brachycephalic Breeds

Flat-faced breeds (such as Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, and Boxers) require tailored care due to restricted airways and sensitivity to heat and stress.

  • Modified Exercise: Brachycephalic dogs play in shorter bursts—limited to a maximum of 10 minutes outdoors or 30 minutes in air-conditioned indoor spaces before mandatory cool-down periods.

  • Frequent Wellness Audits: Managers perform extra checks throughout the day specifically monitoring breathing patterns and comfort levels for these breeds.
