At Paw Paw's Country Pet Resort, your pet's health and safety are our top priority. We've created a clean, safe, and fun environment through rigorous cleaning procedures and health standards.
Our Cleaning and Sanitation Promise
We thoroughly clean and sanitize all suites, bowls, and surfaces between each use. Every morning, we also deep-clean all suites and play yards. Our staff uses soap and water or hand sanitizer before and after every interaction with your pet, ensuring a hygienic environment for everyone.
Our Health and Safety Protocols
We take proactive steps to prevent the spread of illness. Upon arrival, we require verification of all core vaccines and screen every guest for signs of sickness like runny noses, watery eyes, or coughing. If a pet shows any signs of illness during their stay, we immediately isolate them and contact you to arrange for a pickup. You can relax knowing we're constantly monitoring our guests to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may forfeit the deposit.

Required Vaccinations for Dogs
For the safety and health of all our canine guests, we require the following vaccinations to be current and up-to-date:
Rabies: This is a core vaccine required by Florida state and Sumter County law for all dogs over four months of age. We require a current certificate of vaccination from a licensed veterinarian.
DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza): This is a core combination vaccine that protects against four highly contagious and potentially fatal diseases.
Bordetella (Kennel Cough): This non-core vaccine is essential for any dog that will be in a social environment with other dogs. We require proof of this vaccination, and we often recommend that it be administered at least two weeks prior to your pet's stay for maximum effectiveness.
Canine Influenza (H3N2/H3N8 Bivalent): This vaccine protects against two strains of the canine influenza virus. We require proof of this vaccination for the safety of our entire community of dogs.
Required Vaccinations for Cats
For the safety and health of all our feline guests, we require the following vaccinations to be current and up-to-date:
Rabies: Similar to dogs, this is a core vaccine required by Florida state and Sumter County law for all cats over four months of age.
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia): This core combination vaccine, often referred to as "feline distemper," protects against three common and contagious feline diseases.
Important Notes for Both Dogs and Cats:
Proof of Vaccination: We require a current vaccination record from your veterinarian. This documentation must include your pet's name, the date the vaccination was administered, and the date it expires.
Waiting Periods: For first-time vaccinations or new boosters, we may require a waiting period before your pet can stay with us. This allows the vaccine to become effective and ensures the safety of all our guests. Please check with your veterinarian to ensure your pet is ready for their stay.
Optional - Not Required:
Leptospirosis: The Leptospirosis vaccine is a shot that helps protect your dog from a serious bacterial disease called Leptospirosis. The vaccine works by teaching your dog's immune system how to fight off the bacteria. While no vaccine is 100% effective, it significantly reduces your dog's risk of getting sick and can make the symptoms much less severe if they do get infected. Because the disease is so contagious and can be passed to people, we require this vaccine to keep all the pets at our resort safe.
Flea and Tick Prevention: For the safety and comfort of all our guests, we appreciate when our pet guests are on a current flea and tick prevention plan. This helps us ensure that everyone stays happy, healthy, and itch-free during their visit!
If you have any questions about these requirements or your pet's vaccination status, please consult with your veterinarian and then feel free to give us a call. We are happy to help ensure your pet is ready for a safe and happy stay!
